A major pain point for me as a marketer was when I used to ask the product team: “Who are you targeting?”, the response always was: “Everyone“.
𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐧𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞.
In the race to scale, many businesses fall into the “Product-First” trap. They build a great tool, then go hunting for a crowd. But the most successful brands do the opposite: they find the person, understand their pain, and build a bridge to the solution. That bridge is built using User Personas.
A User Persona isn’t just a slide in a deck—it what will guide for your entire Marketing Strategy and business strategy. Here is why User Personas are non-negotiable:
🎯 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 “𝗩𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗲𝘄”
You can’t be everything to everyone. #Segmentation allows you to identify which users drive the most value. By profiling these segments, you move from “guessing” to “knowing.”
👤 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲?
A real persona is a vivid archetype that includes:
👉 Their “Day in the Life” and daily frustrations.
👉 What are they trying to achieve? What are they afraid of?
👉 Why would they say “no” to you?
👉 Where do they hang out, in the physical world and the digital?
🚀 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁
Once you have these profiles, they transform everything you do:
🎨 Visual Identity: You stop choosing colors based on “vibes” and start choosing them based on what resonates with your user’s psychology.
✍️ Content Strategy: You stop writing generic blogs and start solving specific problems your users are searching for.
📱 Social Media: You stop wasting budget on platforms where your users don’t spend their time.
💼 Sales Engagement: Your sales team moves from “pitching” to “consulting” because they already understand the prospect’s world.
Bottom line: You can’t be everything to everyone. If you don’t know exactly who you are talking to, you are just making noise.
